on the road again

I've been doing a lot of weekend travel lately - first it was New York for the Mini 10k and then it was Rumney for a day of climbing and an evening of camping. Looking at my calendar, I actually only have one full weekend at home in the entire month of July. I'll be in Westminster (an hour outside of Boston), followed by my parent's bungalow in the Catskills, climbing at Ross Rocks in Connecticut, and then the Boston Harbor Islands for j2's birthday camping trip. And of course, between all of that traveling I'll be starting my new job on July 9th and moving sometime in mid-August.

Looking at my intense travel schedule, I am feeling very fortunate to have Fridays off this summer. Emma has offered to pace me for the Newport Half marathon this fall, which is super exciting. She works from home on Fridays, and since I'll be available, we've decided to do our long runs on Friday mornings. It'll be great to get my run done before the weekend has even officially started. Another bonus is that I will actually be able to enjoy my weekends away, without stressing about finding a running route or taking myself out of whatever group activity is happening in order to get in some miles.

Here's some pictures of some of the sights of last weekend's outdoor adventures. I don't have any pictures of me or my friends climbing, but I did manage to get a few scenic shots:

view from our camp site at rumney
sunset from the walmart parking lot (not even joking)
first trail run in the fells - i can't believe it's taken me this long!
FYI: when someone tells you that you're going to run 3 miles don't be surprised when it turns into almost 7.5
