Week 9 has come and gone. My ten miler went really well, despite my pace being a little slower than I'd hoped. But, I try not to care too much about that for my long run. It's enough, right now, for me to just get the miles done. I've decided that I won't be increasing my mileage any more before the race. The timing is pretty perfect because my parents will be in town this weekend. I'll have enough time on Saturday morning to bang out 7 or 8 miles before they arrive.
Today, if you haven't heard, is Valentine's Day! It's been pretty fun so far. I went on a great morning run with my friend Lauren. I also brought in Fun Dip valentines for all of my co-workers, which were well-received. Except I had to explain to a lot of them the concept behind it. I mean, WHO HASN'T HEARD OF FUN DIP? One of my coworkers made the candy stick into a shiv, but at least he was having fun with it? Tonight I am having a lady date -- me and some of my girlfriends are going to dinner and then to see The Vow.
In years past I have gotten pretty upset by being single on Valentine's Day. But this year? Who cares. I've been single for just about a year, and you know what? My life is fine! Better than fine. I'm active, and back to being healthy, and I have some really amazing friends and family. I don't feel like I should be depressed on this one particular day just because I'm not currently dating anyone.
