I thought I'd share the three races that I'll be running in the next few months. I may not be as fast as I was before the injury and subsequent surgery, but it feels AMAZING to be healthy enough to sign up for races longer than a 5k. And all of this only 10 weeks after knee surgery. I'm truly proud of myself and the progress I've made. Okay, enough patting myself on the back..
1. Garden City Turkey Trot - This will be the third year participating. The first year I made the mistake of trying to make it a family activity. You know how well that worked out? So well, in fact, that when I asked them to do it last year they laughed in my face. Same goes for this year. My friend Meredith lives on Long Island and she did the race with me last year and she'll be my buddy again this year.
2. Santa Sightings 5k Run - This race looks AWESOME. The registration fee INCLUDES A SANTA SUIT. Need I say more? They're hoping to beat the current Guinness Book World Record of Largest gathering of Santa Claus', and damnit, I am going to do my part. I've managed to recruit Juls, and am hoping to get more friends to run. I have a feeling that this is the sort of activity that is more fun in large groups. Maybe followed by some beer. You know, to keep us jolly.
3. Hyannis Half Marathon - Despite the snow, and the fact that douchebag (now ex) manfriend almost ruined the weekend for me, it was an epic weekend. And it was also the last half marathon I ran before the infamous torn meniscus debacle. Registering for this race was a pretty easy decision. I'm not going in expecting a PR, but I am planning on having a ton of fun and celebrating my return to the half marathon circuit.
Do you have any races coming up? Let's talk about it!
