For all of you Boston-area folks, I wanted to share some information regarding a wonderful event. I will be out of town, otherwise you better believe that I'd be attending the A Sweet Soul Supper! lt's on Thursday evening, June 23rd at MIT’s Walker Memorial Buildingfrom 6:30-10:00pm.
The event is to support the Margaret Fuller Neighborhood House (MNFH), which happens to be an amazing organization that focuses on building relationships and connecting people with opportunities that will strengthen the Cambridge community, eliminate violence, and gain access to basic human services and educational needs. The MNFH currently provides much-needed support and services to over 4,000 people--many of the most vulnerable residents of Cambridge. To name a few (but not the only) services that they offer: a food pantry, out of school time for children, summer camp, outreach to at-risk young adults, health-related programs for seniors and men of color, community organizing, and an open computer center.
A Sweet Soul Supper is the Margaret Fuller House’s biggest fundraiser of the year! It is a celebration of the Area IV community. All proceeds go to scholarships for kids, the food pantry, computer classes and community outreach. The event will begin with a special networking cocktail hour from 5:30-6:30pm. You can enjoy local jazz band Nine Mile Radius, open bar, and delicious hors d'oeuvres while getting to know some professionals from the area. There will be a silent auction with an iPad 2, a custom touring bike from Cambridge Bicycles and the "Love is in the Air" two night stay at the Marriott Courtyard Cambridge. Some pretty snazzy stuff, if you ask me!
