I'm alive! And I'm 27! Did you think that I was still drunk in an alley somewhere? Ohhhh how little you think of me, blog readers. Or how many times I've posted about my past drinking benders...
My birthday weekend was... magnificent. Manfriend made ie home from Kansas on Friday night, just in time for the festivities that were to take place on Saturday. I got dressed in my fabulous party dress and had dinner with some amazing, wonderful friends. I ate poutine! I drank wine! I laughed over Manfriend and my freshman year roommate discussing various facial expressions that I make while both sober and extremely intoxicated. The pub crawl that followed? Well, it wasn't such much of a crawl as it was... me getting blackout drunk at one bar. I was totally excited and overwhelmed by how many people came out for my birthday. In my drunken haze I thought it made more sense to just stay at the one bar than to move the massive group to another location. I drunkenly flitted from one group of people to another and remember feeling so loved by everyone who was there.
I had told myself that I would not have tequila until 10:30pm. Why the arbitrary time? Because that's how I roll. I also like to break my own rules and by around 9:00pm I was begging my friend to take tequila shots with me. For the record, I don't even like tequila. But, what birthday girl wants, birthday girl gets. I don't remember exactly what I consumed but I can say with certainty that I was never without a drink in my hand. I only wish that I had given someone else control over my camera so that I would have more pictures from the night!
Sunday was spent hungover. Luckily I had Manfriend to take care of me. He kept me fed and hydrated and allowd me to take several naps throughout the day. I woke up feeling good as new on Monday -- my actual birthday!! Just in time to get a massage with two of my ladyfriends. My massage therapist spent most of the time working out the two HUGE knots in my shoulders that have been forming for the last millenia or two. Let me tell you, it wasn't all that pleasant but man... hurts so good. Massage was followed by lunch, a little mid-day movie and then a special birthday dinner.
I love my family. I love my friends. I love how everyone came together to make it such a special time for me. I can't say thank you enough and I can't even put into words how truly lucky I feel every day to have these people in my life.
So basic recap of my long birthday weekend: lots of booze, lots of food, and lots of love. Pants don't really fit right now, but it was totally worth it!
