winter blues

someecards.com - There's nothing like holiday cheer to offset devastating seasonal affective disorder

I feel totally justified to post this, because I live in a place where the sun set at 4:12 PM. Does anyone else feel as though the sun only rises for about 15 minutes a day? Of course those precious minutes are when I'm at work, chained to my desk in my windowless office that I've not-so-affectionately named "the den of solitude".

The most depressing part is that winter hasn't even really started. Yes, it's been bitterly cold lately, but there's been no snow! I fear for what the rest of winter has in store for me. Please remind me again why I continue to live in New England? We know it's not the sports teams..

I'm feeling OK so far but by January, I start feeling very "cabin feverish" and start longing for the sun on my shoulders. It gets really bad by March. In Michigan, it would last until late April, but I'm hoping here in Illinois the sun will come back sometime in March. Until then it's grey grey grey.

Agreed with Stacy. I get excited about the weather until after my birthday then I'm just waiting for the sun and warmth

Yes that's one of my least favorite things about winter, how short the days are. I can't walk my dog after dark because it's not that safe, and I can't walk him in the mornings because it's too dark when I wake up before work. Frustrating! But the cute winter clothes and all of the yummy food are a decent trade off for the dark, at least in my opinion.

stacey & monica - the temps here in boston have been on par with those of FEBRUARY and i'm terrified for what it'll actually be, you know, in february. i hope i don't freeze to death.

nancy - winter is brutal, i think i need to move west and/or south. and i'll update about the vegetarian week soon, i promise!!

dori - where should we go, the greek islands maybe??

date girl - i just feel like i have no time to do anything because it's constantly dark. when it's dark my body thinks that it's time to go to bed. so basically i'm cranky and exhausted for the entire winter. boo hoo.
