this and that

I missed LOLcat Friday, didn't I? I hope that flying to and from New York in the same day absolves me from any blame. And today I woke up and ran 19.25 miles. Whenever I try to wrap my brain around how far that really is, it just defaults to "a really freaking long distance". I'll spend the next week feeling all awesome about having run so far, and then next Saturday's 20-miler will become my new longest. Then the week after that will be 22 miles. And then, I am happy to report, will begin my taper!  The marathon is in exactly 36 days and I go back and forth between excitement and extreme nausea. I have no expectations of the time in which I hope to finish. At this point, the goal is mere survival. My reward will be a pedicure and a massage. Oh yea, and the glory of being a marathoner!

On an unrelated note, I went out and purchased my first Christmas tree today. I don't have a ton of space in my glorified closet of an apartment and frankly, I'm not all that traditional. In fact, I lean mor towards gaudy in the way of holiday decoration preferences. Can I have a drum roll, please? No? Well FINE..

I'm hoping to pick up a stocking to put by the tree, but until then this will have to do. Now I guess I have to start my Christmas shopping.. I've got plenty of time.. right? RIGHT?! Crap.

That's the ugliest Christmas tree I have ever seen.

HAHAHA I love how it looks on your shelf.

I'm enjoying the Christmas tree, did the ornaments come with? I have a U of M tree that's equally as tacky.

Congrats on your long run!

You are such an original. Looking forward to seeing you at the Jingle Bell run - did you ever think a 5K race would be a recovery run? Congratulations girlfriend - you're almost there!

I ALWAYS had an artificial tree growing up, including one low point that involved a Dollar Store tree purchase where the BRANCHES changed colors...so no need for string lights! (Like I said...low point.) I love this little pink tree!
