okcupid brings the lulz

You may ask - "hey J., what the hell is this particular blog about?" And I would have to answer, "oh dude, not much, just an email from okcupid telling me how hot they think I am. No, seriously, I'm totally smokin' - this email is proof!" And if that doesn't work I'll say "It's to make you laugh hysterically at the absurdity that is my life. ENJOY!" I think this is the website's way of making up for the craptastic luck I've had with their dating selection. Well, brava okcupid, you have redeemed yourself.. for now.

I am not even kidding, I received an email from okcupid telling me that I'm hot, and it was hilarious so I decided to share it with all of you. If you don't believe that I copied and pasted this email, just let me know and I'd be happy to forward you the original as proof. I may be many things - crazy, overdramatic, slightly high-strung, but I am no liar!

We are very pleased to report that you are in the top half of OkCupid's most attractive users. The scales recently tipped in your favor, and we thought you'd like to know.

How can we say this with confidence? We've tracked click-thrus on your photo and analyzed other people's reactions to you in QuickMatch and Quiver.
. . .
Your new elite status comes with one important privilege:
You will now see more attractive people in your match results.
This new status won't affect your actual match percentages, which are still based purely on your answers and desired match's answers. But the people we recommend will be more attractive. Also! You'll be shown to more attractive people in their match results.
. . .
Suddenly, the world is your oyster. Login now and reap the rewards. And, no, we didn't just send this email to everyone on OkCupid. Go ask an ugly friend and see.

BWAHAHAHA. I'm sorry, but that's so hilarious. While you are super hot, I like how they are like "now you are elite enough to see the REAL hotties!"

It's the hair, j.!

Wow.

"the people we recommend will be more attractive."

I should adopt this attitude with the friends I try to "set up."

"Hey, you're looking really good these days! The people I recommend will be more attractive."

I guess it's true that a real attractiveness disparity can be a hard thing for any relationship to cope with.
