last blog of 2009

It's New Years Eve. This year has been quite crazy, to say the least. I've laughed, cried, loved, lost, and did I mention cried? Yea, so I'm a cry-baby, whatever. There have been so many ups and downs but I feel as though I've finally gotten myself back to a good place. I'm happy, doing well at work, and keeping myself busy. I'm hoping that 2010 is a little less... dramatic? But, knowing me, it likely won't be.

But before I get to the new year, I have to survive New Years Eve. This year it's going to be me and Sara and some others. I may have mentioned once or twice that when it's the two of us, we somehow manage to consume way more alcohol than is necessary. Actually, upon searching my blog for the words "Sara" and "Slouis", I came up with a pretty good amount of entries, therefore I think she's earned her own label. Right, so back to us being huge binge drinkers together. This will be our fourth New Years together. One year she got kicked out of the bar for unknowingly entering the (unmarked) men's bathroom. Another year I got so drunk that I fell and decided to use her as a landing pad. The next morning I saw her bloodied knees and asked what happened. She just looked at me and said "Seriously?".

On New Years Eve 2007, I managed to lose everything that had been in my adorable clutch. Everything except my money. But what I was really concerned about is my cell phone (are you really surprised?). I cried and cried until Slouis basically told me to shut up while she called my phone. Miraculously, someone had found it and told us to meet them outside so we could retrieve it. We sprint to the entrance and it's there that an Indian gentleman hands me my phone. In my drunken stupor I feel that I need to offer him a reward of some sort. I decide that the most logical decision is to make out with him, and I tell him so. Thankfully I'm stopped by Slouis screaming "JESSICA ALLYN YOU GET BACK HERE RIGHT NOW YOU WILL NOT MAKE OUT WITH THAT BOY." I may be a lot of things when I've been drinking, a pain in the ass, loud, a crier, but I am obedient. I turned right around and walked back into the bar with Slouis.

In short, not only does she let me use her body as a buffer from the ground and locates my cell phone in a bar full of around 500 people, but she stops me from making out with fugly looking men on New Years. If that's not true friendship, then I'm not really sure what is.

Here's to true friendship, and to an amazing 2010 for everyone! I hope that you all have a very happy and safe New Years Eve. May your hangovers be short-lived and your Facebook pictures plentiful.
