oh the irony

My dear blog readers, you all know that I will most likely end up a crazy cat lady one day. However, something happened on Saturday night/early Sunday morning which could throw a wrench in that plan.

I think that I've developed an allergy -- to CATS.

Let me explain further. On Saturday night Koodles and I went to a belated Halloween party. Now, he'd been talking about his costume for so long, and so when he stepped out of the bathroom in his Lady Gaga costume, it actually brought tears to my eyes. These were tears of both fear and amusement, but mostly fear. But, I digress.. The party was a ton of fun, although I did start to sneeze a bit. I thought that I was allergic to my beard (I was the Travelocity Gnome, after all) so I took that off, and went outside for some cool air. I was sneezing and feeling a bit congested but otherwise fine. We crashed at his friend's apartment.. no big deal.

That is until I wake up at 5:30 in the morning to pee. Soon after I realize, hey, I can't really breathe. And when I do try to breathe, all sorts of weird noises are coming from my throat. Koodles asks me several times if I need to leave and head back to his apartment and I'm all "No, no! I'm fine! Go back to sleep!". But eventually I realize that no, I am not fine. My throat feels... swollen? That's the only way I can describe it, although my mother will tell me later that it was probably my throat closing.

It took a long, hot shower, a fresh set of clothing, and no less than three naps before I was able to breathe normally again. Ha! So fun!

Okay, so maybe it's not funny at all. Maybe I was at the brink of hyperventilating and both Koodles and I thought that our Sunday morning might be spent at the emergency room. But making a joke out of serious situations makes them seem a little less scary.

So the moral of the story is: I may never get to be the creepy cat lady that I know I was meant to be. Sad day, folks.
