sonic baby!

I always get insanely bitter after watching Sonic commercials because they air them ALL THE TIME and the closest one is in freaking NEW JERSEY. But no longer! Sweet Jesus, I never thought this day would come. New England is getting their FIRST and only Sonic in August. I don't even care that it's all the way in Peabody. I am so excited that I could pee. And if you read my last blog entry then you know that it's entirely possible.

Here's an excerpt from the article from The Daily Item:
At Thursday's City Council meeting, Lynnfield company JAM, LLC proposed opening the drive-in hamburger chain at 55 Newbury St., with hours of 6 a.m. to 2 a.m.

Until now, the closest Sonic has been in New Jersey - much too far for a late night hamburger run.

"This will be the first Sonic in New England and it will be in Peabody," said attorney Donald Conn, who is representing JAM. "It's kind of a retro-style restaurant with service at the parking spaces and a window."

Conn said while there will not be any interior seating in the restaurant, there will be a patio with room for 50 during the warmer months and 41 parking spaces.

The parcel of land the nationwide franchise will be built upon is currently vacant, overgrown with weeds, and at one point was slated to house an Exxon Mobil gas station.

Councilor At-large James Liacos also expressed enthusiasm over the hamburger chain's arrival in replace of Exxon's attempts to "ram a gas station down our throats."

Councilors voted unanimously in favor of allowing the restaurant, which will be situated in between Homewood Suites and Springhill Suites by Marriott.

It is slated to open in August."

Good for you! August probably seems like a lifetime away when you're craving something. Of course, I'm spoiled. I live in Oklahoma, the HOME of Sonic, and we have them most anywhere you care to look. How long has it been since you've had a Sonic "fix"?

Wow! One visit and you're hooked? Sonic really IS like crack – another Okie blogger actually calls Sonic the "crack-house" because she's so addicted!
